Sacrifice

"A small boy really loved Jesus and longed to show it when teh collection plate began coming around, he realised he had no money, so he got a piece of paper, wrote one word on it and put it on the plate when it was passed to him. In the vestry afterwards, the people who were counting the collection came upon a crumpled piece of paper, which simply said 'myself'.

The sacrifice of our bodies symbolises the giving of ourselves (Romans 12:1-2). God wants the total surrender of ourselves in response to the total sacrifice of his Son's life. This will mean using all we have and are, for God and for the Body of Christ; it will mean loving, giving, forgiving, sharing, praying, helping and other practical expressions of dedication."
